Cooling / quenching

Cooler are quite simple equipment. Often low temperature of material and lower operating pressure. Liquid/liquid, liquid/gas, gas/gas. Horizontal or vertical. All configurations are possible.

Gas quenching is the operation to reduce quickly the temperature of a gas at high temperature. This is done by exposing gas to cold wet surfaces (on a bed of packing rings into a column) or liquid droplets outer surface using sprays. Gas are coming from a burning process or incineration with temperature up to 1500°C.

GT developed GT CARB+ grade which can withstand temperature up to 1500°C in reducing atmosphere or 500°C in presence or air for example.

The main parameters which will be taken in account for the design of such equipment are the design pressure and temperature for the selection of the material of construction.
