Sulfuric acid

Sulfuric acid is a major media which require graphite materials.

GT developed special grade able to handle very hot and high concentrated acid unlike competitor’s carbon based materials.
Over 70% and temperature over 130 degC, phenolic resin start to be corroded.

Our GT FLON and GT OXY FLON can handle up to 98% sulfuric acid at boiling temperature.

We can proceed to corrosion test or provide coupon for test on request here.

Unlike most metallic grades, graphite is not sensitive to pollution of media with fluorides or other compounds. Most corrosion chart consider “Clean” media. Only 50ppm in fluorides in hydrochloric acid will corrode tantalum and other alloys.
Graphite is the best choices for composition with variable concentration and unwanted pollutions.

Scrubber with sulfuric acid sprays for hot gases treatment with SOx content, from incineration process for example, can be cooled down into GT TOWER using our GT CARB+ material which can handle up to 500degC with air (up to 1500degC in reducing atmosphere).
