Graphite is used in many systems for waste gas treatment or acid gas absorption or desorption. Falling film absorber or desorber are very common with graphite materials.
For absorption process, gas flowing into channels with or against the falling film of absorbant. The absorbant is cooled thanks to cooling media on service side to keep the absorption efficient, especially with gas generating heat during this absorption process (HCl, HF, HBr).
For desorption, the flowing liquid is heated up from the service side (with steam or oil) so that to increase the relative pressure of gas to separate from the liquid. Gas is evacuated at top or bottom of the equipment.
